Vascular/Interventional Radiology

Vascular/Interventional RadiologyVascular and Interventional radiologists perform minimally invasive procedures using imaging guidance (Computed Tomography, Ultrasound and fluoroscopy) to diagnose and treat a wide variety of conditions. Vascular radiology and intervention includes conventional diagnostic angiography (the study of blood vessels throughout the body) as well as minimally invasive surgical procedures including angioplasty and stenting, embolization, chemoembolization, thrombolysis, venography and Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt placement. Non-vascular, image-guided intervention procedures include percutaneous biopsy of tumors and drainage of fluid collections in the chest, abdomen or pelvis and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of tumors of the liver, lungs or bone.
