Dr. Buchanan graduated with high honors from the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina in 1961 and subsequently from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1965 with election to Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Buchanan then completed both a Radiology residency and a fellowship in Mammography at Duke University Medical Center in 1970. After serving for five years as Chief of Radiology at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, Dr. Buchanan came to Louisville in 1972, where he has practiced ever since. Jerry has served as president of the Jefferson County Medical Society and the University of Louisville Alumni Association and is a Fellow in both the American College of Radiology and the Society of Breast Imaging.

Dr. Buchanan´s area of expertise is Mammography (including Digital Mammography) as well as the full range of mammographic interventions.
